Another great weekend in Moab
I think Brendan’s last comment in the previous post is correct. Moab is a place that you can’t go wrong. Honestly, even when the weather is bad it is still way fun to be there.
This time the weather was beautiful, clear blue sky 80-85 degrees...
Mike and I want down Friday night so it was dark when we made it to camp. We set up and spent the evening drinking beer hangin out by the fire. Kristen drove in on Saturday morning, and we met her for a traditional "slacker camping" breakfast at the Moab Diner. That place is always full and always greasy and always the perfect meal to start a day in Moab (it also helps in keeping the effects of last night to a minimum.)
We also met my parents and my brother down there right after breakfast. We forced Kristen and my Step-Mother on there mountain bikes and we did the practice loop of slickrock. All I have to say is Great job to both of them!! Neither had done much real mountain biking and slickrock is not the place to learn, but they did great, I was very impressed. After the ride I broke out the blender to make margaritas (it was more of a novelty idea fur using the plug in my truck to run the blender, they were good none the less.) That night Kristen and Mike and I sat by the fire and had some more marg's (hey, we were camping that is what you do at night.)
Because Kristen had to be back in Durango for a soccer game we didn’t have time to make breakfast @ camp, so we dropped her off at her car in town and yet again had breakfast at the Moab Diner.
After Kristen left Mike and I met my Dad and brother to do the full slickrock loop. It isn’t the world greatest ride but it is for sure one of a kind and must be experienced by ANYBODY that has ever enjoyed mountain biking. Unfortunately I did not have my camera with my on the ride or else I would have pictures here to post.
After the ride we began slowly packing up and we took off for home. I got to my house @ 7:30 I dragged all my stuff into the house dropped it on the floor, made some dinner, took a shower, and passed out in bed @ 9:30 (the earliest I’ve been asleep in a long time.)
P.S. I will get some pictures of the trip up as soon as I find my connection for my camera.
