New things...
Ive been thinking of adding a few more sections to the sidebar -->
as you can see Ive already added one, my reciently Dugg stories @ Digg.com.
I am asking you if you think I am just cluttering things up or if you might actually like this content. Other thing I was thinging of adding were:
The same old favorite links that everyone else has.
Current Podcasts Im listening to.
Current Netflix movies (AKA what Im watching).
Would these things be annoying or maybe kindov interesting? I would try to make them as dynamic as possible, Like the digg.com thing where it updates automatically when I click on one of the stories over there.

Good ideas. I think it's a great way to further personalize your blog. But if you want to add more to the sidebar, you might want to consider collapsing a few of the existing categories. Fewer Digg stories, a shorter list of previous posts. That sort of thing. Otherwise it might get a bit long. But that's just my two cents. :-)
I was thinking that as well. I did reduce the Digg stories. I will probably do a few tests and re-organize it a bit over the next few days. I still have to write a JavaScript application to make it work the way I want and I dont know if I will have the time to do that..
Are you doing this all from scratch? Have you looked into using a program like Wordpress? Granted, there's still a level of manual work involved, but there are lots of templates and plug-ins to help you along the way.
Yea, I like to do it from scratch. that way I am in complete control over how it works. Besides thats what I do for a living.
What is wordpress? is that a blogging software? is that what you are using for your blog?
I also got another piece of comment spam.. bummer
Yep, it's the blogging software that I use: WordPress
There are loads of pre-created templates you can use, but you can still design things essentially from scratch if you want to. For my blog, we started with one as a basis for the three column format, and then modified it extensively.
The real advantage I see is the availability of plugins that help a lot with managing comments and spam, as well as themes and other things.
The other big one is Movable Type.
I'm more familiar with WordPress, which is completely open source, but I believe many of the same things can be done with Movable Type.
I just Dloaded Wordpress and Ill take a look at it.
I like the idea of moving to wordpress, but I am concerned about porting all my previous posts from blogger.
I will probably still have to write the Javascript for the Netflix queue. I just think that would be a cool dynamic feature, and I have not seen anything that does what I want (except netflix itself). I have emailed them asking if they have some sort of API like google that I could use.
